color: black;">Learning computer coding presents several challenges, including the complexity of programming concepts, limited access to technological resources and trained instructors, and the frustration beginners often experience when debugging errors; however, it also offers significant opportunities by developing computational thinking, logical reasoning, creativity, and skills relevant to the digital workforce (Grover & Pea, 2022; Sentance et al., 2023). One platform that effectively increases learners’ understanding of how computing works is Scratch, a block-based programming environment that allows students to create interactive stories, games, and animations while learning core computing concepts such as sequencing, loops, and conditionals without the difficulty of programming syntax (Maloney et al., 2022; Resnick, 2023). Through its visual and project-based pedagogy, Scratch enhances engagement, supports constructivist learning, and helps beginners understand the logic of programming, although learners may still require structured support when transitioning to more advanced text-based programming languages (Kong et al., 2022; Waite & Sentance, 2024).
