Yo, for this assignment I'm picking how I scroll TikTok's For You Page all the time. It's like this new habit with apps in regular life. I'm just a student in Paranaque, and I do it nonstop on the jeepney going to school, during breaks waiting for my next class, or in bed when I can't sleep. You open it up and boom short 15-60 second vids hit you: dances, dumb jokes, tips for school, makeup stuff, or news like K-pop drama or Manila trafficThe app guesses what you like from your past watches and likes, so it feels personalThis is different from before when social media was just Facebook, posting pics for your barkada. Now it's endless swiping that eats up every free minute. I probs do it 2 hours a day without thinking, same as everyone I know lol.

The way people "talk" on there is crazy visual and quick. No need for big words vids use music that slaps, filters, text flashing on screen, dances or faces to get the point. You react super easy: heart it, comment 😂 or 🔥 emojis, make a duet vid next to theirs, or stitch by grabbing their clip and adding yours. Feels like one giant chat with randoms worldwide, and stuff goes viral fast from challenges where we all copy the same move with a hashtag. But fr, it's not real talking more like sharing vibes and FOMO. The algorithm acts like it's chatting too, feeding you more of the same and keeping you stuck in your bubble.

For literacy in school, TikTok means teachers gotta change stuff up cuz we learn from apps more than books sometimes. Like teach us to spot fake news, bad advice that blows up, or why it only shows your side of things. Fun assignment idea: pick a trend and explain it, or make TikToks teaching history that's writing, thinking, and editing mixed. But problems too: it makes attention short, lies spread easy, and not everyone has data. Class should show how to google check facts, read books still, and do that multi-literacy deal with words, pics, sounds. School ignoring it is lame; using it smart would actually help us with real life media crap.
