While exploring the Models of Pedagogy presented in Module 2, I found myself deeply reflecting on the transition from traditional didactic methods to a more reflexive, "New Learning" approach. As a teacher at Itbud Integrated School, these theoretical shifts are not just academic—they are the blueprint for how I support my deaf student. In our modern times, the old pattern of teaching as a simple oral transmission of facts is a significant barrier to inclusion. Instead, I am leaning into the idea of Education as the Science of Coming-to-Know, which suggests that learning is a process of meaning-making rather than just memorization. For my student, "coming-to-know" happens through a visual lens, requiring me to move away from a "one-size-fits-all" lecture and toward a more learner-centered oriented model. This is where the Art and Science of Teaching truly intersect; it is a science to understand cognitive development and a creative art to "fit" these strategies so they resonate with a learner who navigates the world differently.

To prepare this student for real-world life situations, I have integrated Multimodal Pedagogy as a core strategy. This aligns with research by Marc Marschark a renowned deaf researcher, in How Deaf Children Learn, which emphasizes that deaf students are not simply "hearing students who can't hear," but are visual learners with distinct cognitive patterns. By using ICT or media and visual scaffolding, I am not just helping them reach the same objectives as their peers, but also building the self-advocacy and digital literacy they will need to navigate professional environments that aren't always designed for them and students with special or different needs. This reflexive approach acknowledges the student’s social identity and transforms the classroom into a space where diversity is a strength.
