As a Senior High School teacher, I still use didactic pedagogy in my classroom, especially when I need to introduce new or foundational lessons. For example, when I start a topic that includes important definitions, rules, or background information, I usually explain the lesson clearly and systematically while students listen, take notes, and ask short clarification questions. At this stage, didactic teaching is appropriate because students need a common understanding before they can move on to deeper activities. It helps them grasp the basics quickly, avoids confusion, and ensures that everyone is starting from the same point.

However, didactic pedagogy becomes anachronistic when it is used all the time, even after students already understand the lesson. If I continue to rely only on lecturing when students could be discussing ideas, solving problems, or applying what they learned to real-life situations, the approach no longer fits their needs. In today’s classroom, students are expected to think critically and actively participate in learning, not just receive information. Therefore, while didactic pedagogy is still useful for introducing and clarifying lessons in school, it becomes outdated when it limits interaction, creativity, and independent thinking.
