ql-align-justify"> One relevant example of didactic pedagogy is deductive instruction. As a future educator, we must decide on an instruction that is appropriate to both the topic and the grade level we are teaching. In the deductive instruction, teachers teach the rules first before giving an example. For instance, in an English subject, the teacher will have to teach the grammar rules first before giving an example. Further information about the deductive approach is that deductive approach is a teacher-centered learning approach in which the teacher gives the students the rules first for a given topic before giving examples of those rules in action. This learning approach is in contrast to the inductive approach because in inductive teaching, examples come first before the rules.

A sample classroom application of the deductive approach in an English class is where a teacher explicitly teaches the English grammar rules to students and then tests. Once the grammar rules are introduced and explained, the teacher will provide grammar exercises to students for them to become familiar with the pattern and to also assess their understanding. This approach greatly benefits the students as it encourages faster learning of the material. It is also a good approach for students who are having difficulty understanding the grammar rules, as grammar is very hard to understand because English has many branches. It is not easy, as there are numerous rules and exceptions. Therefore, as a future educator, I say that the deductive approach should be used if we are teaching grammar to students, as it is complex and requires a contextual understanding and meaningful instruction so that students can understand the grammar rules more easily.

Deductive approach is also appropriate in terms of teaching science and mathematics as they also need a contextual understanding. These subjects are abstract in nature and have cumulative structure that many students are having difficulty learning them. Therefore, a learning approach that is ideal is deductive teaching.
