The ALS program is designed for out-of-school youth and adults who have not completed formal basic education. It offers flexible learning opportunities that are tailored to the needs and circumstances of its learners. Instead of following a rigid, subject-by-subject curriculum like traditional schools, ALS focuses on life skills and practical competencies. For instance, a typical module might teach learners how to read a medicine label, fill out a job application, understand election ballots, or calculate simple budgets for a small business.
