https://www.coursera.org/instructor/marykalantzis" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"> Dr Mary Kalantzis said in the first video of the 3^rd module of this online course, indeed, Traditional or Didactic pedagogy is still with us, sometimes it’s appropriate as in teaching History and EPP (Edukasyong Pantahanan at Pangkabuhayan), and sometimes it’s not as in teaching Science and Mathematics.

As a 90's baby, I cannot say that didactic pedagogy is bad. Personally, sometime in my elementary years in the barrio, I actually enjoyed when my teachers would reveal new knowledge while I sit, listen, answer few questions, and laugh at times when she shares her experiences related to our lesson. There's not much things happening in my life that time so I could only shared a few. Especially in our Accounting class in college many, many years ago, didactic pedagogy would have really been the appropriate pedagogy.

However, as a teacher in elementary now, really, I am more on the transformative pedagogy as shared in the first video of this module. However, there are certain lessons that actually need emphasis on what to remember so that their foundations of facts on the processes would be solid as in some lessons in Mathematics and so I add a bit of didactic, a bit of authentic, and I made it so enjoyable by making my lessons gamified.

Being with the pupils for quite a number of days, you can actually observe which activity they enjoy, which pedagogy is effective for them for a specific lesson, and which research-based strategies really work for the set of pupils you currently have.

In a research conducted by Suyo-Vega, J. A., Fernández-Bedoya, V. H., & Meneses-La-Riva, M. E. (2024), it says, "Developing good pedagogical practices strengthens students’ critical thinking, enabling them to analyze information not only quantitatively but also qualitatively."
