Didactics plays a crucial role in shaping how knowledge is taught and understood in higher education. Although it is sometimes criticized for being overly teacher-centered and more on "relationship of command and compliance" as Dr. Cope mentioned, didactic teaching has not always been negative and can still be meaningfully integrated into modern learning environments when applied thoughtfully. As learning contexts become more digital and student-centered, traditional content-heavy approaches alone are no longer sufficient. As Pantopoulos (2021) states, "Didactic methods are considered to be a very important part of a student's education," highlighting the need to continuously examine and improve teaching practices. Educators must therefore balance structured instruction with strategies that make learning engaging anf relevant.

One major issue is the shift from simple information transmission to a meaningful learning. Overloading students with content can limit deep understanding and critical thinking. Just like the changing role of the teacher - from authority figure to facilitator who guides discussion, supports diverse learning styles and encourages reflection. Another challenge involves designing curriculum for a digitalized world. As we know, it always starts with passing of data or information from source to learner (which is absolutely didactic), but does not end learning there. Students must develop media literacy, ethical awareness, and responsible technology use to function as informed digital citizens. Technology-enabled learning also presents difficulties. While digital tools increases access and flexibility, they may encourage passive learning if not carefully implemented. Ethical concerns must also be addressed to ensure students can form independent and critical perspective.

Therefore, didactics remains essential in strengthening higher education systems. When carefully adapted to contemporary needs, it can complement modern pedagogies and support the development of critical, responsible, and autonomous learners. Ultimately, it is the teacher's approach and intentional use of didactic methods that determine how learners experience and appreciate the learning process.
