color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">I have experienced recent changes in education primarily as a teacher in early childhood education (ECE). In recent years, especially during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, the ways children learn and how teachers deliver instruction have changed significantly. Early childhood education, which traditionally relies on hands-on, play-based, and social learning, has increasingly integrated digital tools, hybrid models, and family-centered approaches.

One example is the use of digital learning portfolios and video-based storytimes to engage children and families when in-person interaction was limited. These tools helped maintain continuity of learning and communication with parents, but they also highlighted developmental limitations—young children still need physical interaction, play, and guided exploration, which cannot be fully replicated online.

Another change I have noticed is the expanded role of families. Caregivers became more active partners in supporting routines, learning activities, and social-emotional development when children were learning partially at home. This shift strengthened collaboration but also revealed inequalities in resources, time, and access to technology, which affected learning outcomes for some children.

Research supports these observations. The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC, 2020)emphasizes that technology in early childhood settings should support—not replace—hands-on, developmentally appropriate learning. Similarly, UNESCO (2021) notes that disruptions to early learning can have long-term social, emotional, and cognitive effects, particularly for children from underserved communities.
