The Russian Language has been piquing my interest for some time now. It is the largest of the Slavic languages and serves as a lingua franca across much of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. It's a language of extremes for it can sound incredibly soft and poetic in literature, yet remarkably firm and authoritative in other contexts. The alphabet used in this language is called Cyrillic Alphabet. It was developed based on Greek script, that is why some letters look familiar but sound different. Unlike the English language's strict word order, Russian language is flexible because every endings matters the most and do all the works.

I am bilingual. My lingua franca is Filipino followed by the English as my second language. Contrary to my first two languages, Russian is a language that stands apart the two as a highly inflected language. For instance, both English and Filipino use markers to identify nouns while Russian has zero articles. You determine the specifity of a noun through context or the case endings. When it comes to morphology, Russian becomes much more complex than English, though Filipino speakers might find the concept of affixes slightly familiar. English changes mostly with prepositions while Filipino focus markers and prefixes to change verb meanings but with Russian, they change the end of the noun itself. As I've mentioned earlier, Russian is melodic but heavy phonology because the language uses "soft" and "hard" consonants which gives it that distinctive "alternating" sound, sometimes fluid and "hushing" and sometimes very percussive.

I don't think it has any particular use in my everyday, I just find the Russian language cool and interesting. But there's nothing wrong with learning something you want to learn as long as you are having fun. Before all of that, I need to be fluent and literate with my Lingua Franca and second language.
