Zeyad T. El Sayad is a Lecturer in the department of Architectural Engineering
at AU. He received his B.Sc., M.Sc., and PhD from the Faculty of Engineering,
Alexandria University. He has been a staff member since 1994. His research
interests now focus on Sustainable Design being viewed from different aspects
as well as on a multidisciplinary platform. In that course, he has been
responsible for the construction of the Laboratory for the studies of the Urban
Environment, the construction of the faculty’s Virtual Design and Virtual
Reality Laboratories and the Laboratory for Advanced Architectural Modelling.
He currently heads the committee of the central lab of Virtual Reality.
Dr. El Sayad has participated in the organization of numerous workshops for students and professionals
revolving around virtual reality and heritage documentation, in addition to sustainability related matters.
Many of them in collaboration with the Goethe Institute and the DAAD. He was also a member of the
technical office of the Education Development Fund headed by H.E. the Prime Minister.
Zayed was the deputy director of the Quality Assurance Unit for Academic Performance as well as a
board member of the Development of Educational Resources Fund of the Faculty of Engineering.
Currently, he is a member of the Heritage Preservation Committee of Alexandria, headed by H.E. the
Governor. On the professional scale. Dr. El Sayad has designed and supervised the construction of more
than 200 different projects covering a wide spectrum of building types.
