Victoria Chanse’s research and teaching address cross-disciplinary design and planning approaches to civic engagement. Current research include 1) advancing the understanding of transdisciplinary approaches to sea level change design and planning responses on Maryland's Eastern shore and 2) community-based participatory research approaches with local communities for stormwater management. Her projects have faced critical environmental concerns: design and planning adaptations to sea level change, the use of green infrastructure in addressing stormwater issues, and engaging communities in addressing both equity and environmental problems. Prior to moving to Maryland, Dr. Chanse worked at Clemson University in South Carolina. Past collaborative projects in South Carolina includes the Sand River Restoration project, the Sand River Headwaters Green Infrastructure project, and participatory design approaches with neighborhoods of North Charleston, SC. Dr. Chanse received her doctorate and masters at the University of California at Berkeley. She has been and is a co-principal Investigator for several U.S. Environmental Protection Agency grants.
