Dr. Valerie Maier-Speredelozzi is an associate professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Rhode Island. She received her Ph.D. in 2003, and Master’s degrees in both Mechanical Engineering and Industrial & Operations Engineering in 2001, all from the University of Michigan. Her Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree is from Georgia Institute of Technology. Her research interests include lean systems, sustainability, and manufacturing system design across multiple industries. Since 2005, Dr. Maier-Speredelozzi has taught a Lean Systems course at URI where students learn the fundamentals of lean manufacturing, and apply those concepts to service industries, including healthcare, banking, offices, restaurants, or small businesses.
