My practice-based research examines the possibility of an uncanny aesthetic through W.D. Winnicott’s theory of play whereby photographs and sculptural forms are constructed from various everyday materials available or on hand. I have been exhibiting since I graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts in 2005. I am currently a Masters of Fine Arts candidate in the College of Creative Arts at Massey University, Wellington, New Zealand. Recent research highlights include being selected as a finalist for the Annual Wallace Art Awards 2010, one of New Zealand’s most prestigious art awards and having work included in the major survey show Birds; The Art of New Zealand Birdlife at Pataka Museum, Porirua and the Sargent Gallery, Wanganui in 2006. Since 2005 I have been lecturing at the Wellington Institute of Technology on the Bachelor of Creative Technologies degree in drawing, studio and critical studies.
