Although trained in Classical and Modern Philosophy and have been in departments of Political Science for over three decades, I have had a long association with the Carleton University School of Architecture. I have lectured and given seminars in the school, have supervised graduate theses, served on numerous thesis committees and have taught their graduate students in my regularly offered course in Contemporary Political Philosophy. What interests me about architectural theory is the concept of ‘public space’ in general and the ‘city’ in particular, together with the conjunction of aesthetics and politics. What the students and my colleagues find attractive about my work is the Philosophy of Technology, a subject I have taught and written about throughout my career.
