As a wife, a mother, and a college professor, food has become part of the life work of Teresa Marbut. As the mother of an eleven year-old child who suffers from schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and ADHD, Teresa has had firsthand experience dealing with the rampant rise of neurological issues that are now being linked to the current received food system. Teresa serves as a part of the adjunct faculty in Women’s Studies at Saint Martin’s University in Lacey, WA where she teaches not only core Women’s Studies courses but also a unique course titled "Women, Food, and Freedom," exploring the problems inherent in a capitalistic and corrupt food system for women and children in Third World and developing countries. Teresa also teaches philosophy at Pierce Community College in Lakewood, WA. She holds a Master’s Degree in Theological Studies from George Fox University and has completed her doctoral coursework at the California Institute of Integral Studies. Currently Teresa is at work on her dissertation titled "Restoring a Sacred Understanding of Food: An Ecofeminist Analysis and Spiritual Reflection on What Has Been Lost and Is Being Regained."
