Growing up with artists and revolutionaries leaves its mark, and Professor Rodriguez’s philosophical interests can be traced to her early years of communal living. She specializes in the philosophy of art, especially film theory, and ethics, including moral psychology. Her recent work in ethics has focused on community and personal relationships. Professor Rodriguez is dedicated to democratic education, and her classes integrate shared student narrative with close readings of canonical philosophical texts. Since completing her doctoral dissertation, Empathy at the Intersection, she has presented her work on the crossover between art and ethics for universities and conferences around the globe.
