Tamra Ulpen is a Program Coordinator for the Foundation Studies program at
UniSA College. Her study of intercultural communication and language
learning began with a BA in Asian Studies followed by a Masters degree in
Applied Linguistics. She has taught English as a second language in the
secondary and tertiary sector in Australia and overseas. Her interests
include socio-linguistics, inclusive education, critical pedagogy and
widening participation. She has co-presented at international conferences
and published on policy, practice and enabling education. Tamra is
passionate about equitable access and participation in higher education and
is particularly keen to study what motivates student retention in enabling
education programs.
