...MoreI was born in West Belfast in 1970 and as a young person I became involved in Youth Work aiming to challenge what had increasingly become a violent, segregated and polarised society. Since then I have worked as a Community Youth Work practitioner and activist with young people throughout Nothern Ireland. I joined the University of Ulster in 2003 and became involved in exploratory research into the process and products of 'informal' engagement of young people in communities experiencing or emerging from conflict. Through my invlovlement in a three year project'Youth Work in Contested Societies'I have taken this research further afield to find commonalities and differences between different regions, cultures and countries working with youth in the context of conflict and segregation.
