Voice and piano and cello studies beginning at age 5. This researcher started performing at age 6. BM in vocal performance from the New England Conservatory of Music, MM in vocal performance Manhattan School of Music. Began instructing voice while pursuing my Bachelors degree. After graduation from the Manhattan School of Music, I remained in NYC performing in genres of opera, oratorio, and musical theatre, and teaching while still studying. Upon returning to Canada in 2004 have been on the music faculties of Dalhousie, St. Francis Xavier, and currently Acadia University as well as teaching at the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts for the past 7 years. Teaching applied voice, diction for singers and vocal pedagogy courses. Frequent audition panelist, Masterclass clinician, Voice Clinician, Past President of the Maritime Association of Teachers of Singing. Won several teachings awards from the Royal Conservatory.
Voice instructor for over 15 years. Student age range from 5-72. As well perform frequently as soprano soloist in the genres of opera, musical theatre, in recitals, part of chamber music and soloist in choral works with orchestra.
Interest in philosophy of education began during doctoral studies. Currently ABD. Research interests are in the area of existential philosophy and how it can be applied to pedagogical methods of vocal instruction in higher education influencing current trend in vocal pedagogy and music curriculum.
