Stephen Day is a Seattle-based architect working with a variety of clients and colleagues in realizing building projects. Mr. Day's work focuses on historic preservation and the modern adaptive re-use of historic properties (web site at www.stephendayarchitecture.com). He is also the President of the Board of Directors for the Northwest Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies in Italy, a nonprofit organization founded in 1981 and based in Seattle, with facilities in Civita di Bagnoregio, Italy (web site at www.northwestinstitute.com). Stephen is the Chair of the Design Review Commission for the Historic Landmarks Commission of King County (Seattle) and the past Chair of the Historic Preservation Committee for the American Institute of Architects (Seattle Chapter). He studied architecture and urban design with Professor Astra Zarina at the University of Washington Rome Center, in Italy, and received his Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University in New York City. He has lectured and presented on historic preservation and architectural issues in conferences and publications sponsored by the American Bar Association, the American Planning Association and the American Institute of Architects.
