Dr Stelvia Matos (B.Eng. Chemical Engineering, M.Eng; PhD, Civil Engineering University of São Paulo- Brazil) is a Research Associate with the Centre for Policy Research on Science & Technology (CPROST) and an Adjunct Professor with the Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University. She holds a). Dr Matos’ research interests include environmental life cycle assessment (LCA) and environment management tools, innovation uncertainty analysis, Brazilian industrial and sustainable development policy, sustainable development innovation, information & communication technologies in rural areas and social aspects of innovation and engineering. She has worked in a variety of research projects funded by SSHRC, IDRC, and CIDA, and is currently working on two Genome Canada GE3LS (Genomics, Ethics, Environment, Economy Law and Society) projects (“Harnessing microbial diversity for sustainable use of forest biomass resources” and “Genomics-Based Forest Health Diagnostics and Monitoring”) from July 2011 – June 2014.
