  My name is Stefanie La Manna and I reside in Lake Worth, Florida. I have been practicing nursing for 17 years, and would not have chosen another profession. I obtained my Masters in Science in Nursing specializing as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2001. I furthered my education and obtained my PhD in nursing research, and completed this degree in Dec, 2009. I am currently obtaining a second Masters degree in Public Health specializing in epidemiology. I practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner and I specialize in Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. I developed an asthma safety knowledge instrument in my dissertation work titled “ La Manna Asthma Safety Knowledge Questionnaire for Coaches.” My review of literature revealed that there have been asthma deaths among athletes when participating in sports. There should not be asthma related deaths. Presently I am refining my instrument. When I am not working I am either working on my research or training for a ½ marathon.
