See Ching Mey is a Professor in the School of Educational Studies, Universiti Sains Malaysia. Her areas of specialization are educational psychology, counseling psychology, counselor education, special education (emphasis on autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), psychological testing, and mental health. She is a registered and licensed counselor.
Ching Mey conducts seminars and workshops, and is consulted on topics related to motivation; mental health; strategies and techniques in counseling; psychological testing; stress management; grief and bereavement; counseling special population; screening and diagnosis of special children; teaching and learning of special children; behavior management; and parenting skills. She has published five academic books and about 200 international and national academic journal articles. She is the chief editor of the Journal of Counseling by the Association of Psychological and Educational Counselors of Asia, and editors of six other journals. She has received 16 research grants.
In recent years, she has been invited to give keynote, plenary presentations, talks and workshops by international organizations such as PACERS (Philippines); A WIFI (Philippines); University Of San Carlos (Philippines); SAARC (India), Department of Mental Health (Thailand), University of Surabaya (Indonesia); Seoul National University (Korea); iT21-International (Singapore); Charles University (United Kingdom); California State University (United State); Asia Pacific Association of Psychotherapists; and APECA.
She has received several awards recognizing her contributions, including several Outstanding Leadership and Service Awards from the Lions Clubs International, the Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (Meritorious Service Award) from the Penang State Government; Maal Hijrah Excellence Award (For Academic Category), University Science Malaysia; Sin Chew Da Ai Award (Sin Chew Kind Heart Award), and Alumni Citizenship Award 2007 from the Ohio State University Alumni Association.
