I am the foundation director of the Loti Smorgon School of Arts at Mount Scopus Memorial College, Melbourne. From the time of its foundation I have worked to integrate the faculty of arts into the arena of education and cultural development in literacy, numeracy, philosophy, social responsibility, and the practical pursuits which take up the lives of both students and citizens. I have been involved with much educational research on processes of learning and development and I have successfully translated this into the school setting. My faculty has become a centre piece of educational development and achievement. I have simultaneously maintained my artistic career and my professional output as an artist.
My experience and personal study has ensured that I have an active and liberal understanding of educational needs of the individual. Over past years I have been studying aspects of creativity and how it impinges on the individuals’ capacity to learn and explore across a range of faculties. As a practising artist I am both enthused and excited by the processes of aesthetic thinking and the possibilities for extending the well being and development of the human condition.
