Dr. Sara Lynn Terrell served as an Assistant Professor of Exercise Physiology at Ohio Northern University (ONU) for 12 years before recently accepting an Exercise Science Program Coordinator Position at Florida Southern College. In her tenure at ONU, she served as the Exercise Physiology clinician for ONU HEALTHWISE, an interdisciplinary on-campus disease state management (DSM) and wellness team. Additional team members for ONU HEALTHWISE include Pharmacy faculty and a Human Resources representative. ONU HEALTHWISE had over three years of interdisciplinary collaboration with shared goals of establishing a successful on-campus employee disease state management and wellness program within the university setting. Dr. Terrell supervised several facets of HEALTHWISE, including serving as the director for the on-campus student-led exercise program, directing fitness classes and instructors, and assisting in HEALTHWISE program outreaches such as the work-site walking program and employee educational programs. Current research interests include optimizing participation within worksite wellness programs, improving clinical outcomes and weekly physical activity through worksite walking programs, and implementing inter-professional education collaboration (IPE) in undergraduate health care curriculum. She is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and is a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sport Performance Coach. Dr. Terrell has also served as a strength and conditioning consultant to sports teams such as men’s and women’s swimming and women’s basketball.
