I have a B.S. in Writing, a M.A. in English, and am currently completing my M.F.A. in Poetry. Over the years I have been a writing tutor, an editorial intern for Milkweed Editions, a poetry editor for the graduate student journal Rock, Paper, Scissors, and a bookstore supervisor. I currently work as a library staff member and as an adjunct instructor for both Hamline University and the University of Phoenix online. I recently won Shadow Poetry’s 11th biannual chapbook competition for my chapbook titled The Science of Want, which was also a finalist for the Flume Press chapbook contest. My work has also appeared in numerous poetry journals including California Quarterly, The Bitter Oleander, Red Wheelbarrow, Ascent, Whiskey Island Magazine, Diner, Cimarron Review, Calyx (forthcoming), Splinter Generation (forthcoming) and Sleet (forthcoming), among others. In addition to my creative work, I presented a critical paper titled “Moral Journeys: Exploring Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials through the Lens of Lawrence Kohlberg’s Cognitive Theory of Moral Development” at the 2008 Hawaii International Arts and Humanities Conference.
