His first major publication is the illustrated book 'The Boy Who Grew Into a Tree' (Penguin Books, 2012), and his picture book 'One Photo' (Penguin Books) is due for release early 2015. His work has been shortlisted for various prestigious awards, and his short fiction and non-fiction have been published in Australian and international anthologies. Ross is an Executive Committee member of the Australasian Association of Writing Programs (AAWP) and a Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.
