Rebecca Boger, Assistant Professor, Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Brooklyn College, has a background in geospatial technologies, marine science, and science education. Before her position at Brooklyn College, she worked for an international science and education program, GLOBE, where she worked with teams of scientists and educators developing classroom materials, conducting teacher professional workshops, and facilitating international research and education collaborations. More recently, Boger has been awarded NASA funding to develop online training slides for GLOBE hydrosphere and biosphere protocols that will be designed to increase the citizen science participation in GLOBE. At Brooklyn College, she teaches geospatial technologies and works closely with anthropologists and archaeologists in Barbuda and Serbia on socio-ecological resilience research, community based mapping, and environmental modeling. In New York City area, she works closely with NYC Parks and Recreation and Gateway National Recreation on historical mapping and trends analysis of marshes and shoreline. She continues her education work with a greater emphasis on sustainability and climate change topics where she is helping to build an urban sustainability program and online materials through a NASA Innovations in Climate Education (NICE) grant and InTeGrate, a 5-year NSF STEP Center grant led by Carleton College.
