I have taught for over 20 years in both Further and Higher Education in the UK and for the last nine years I have taught exclusively in the area of teacher training for academic staff. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and I am currently the Learning and Teaching Advisor for the Faculty of Education in Anglia Ruskin University. I am particularly interested in the impact of teacher training on new university teachers as this is an area central to my own work but also an area which can and does provoke strong reactions from both sides of the argument. I am also interested in the way in which assessment influences students' approach to learning and I have used my role as a teacher trainer to explore with my colleagues how they might develop their own assessment practice with their own students.
