Patrick has been a research manager and senior research development specialist in University Administration for a number of years. He co-develops and designs funded research projects and is a policy adviser on academic career development within his Faculty. His research interests are concerned with knowledge production and social science theory, with a recent published chapter on the intersection between social complexity as science or commcercial knowledge production. Patrick was previously a coordinator of an interdisciplinary international migration research program for UNESCO's Management of Social Transformations Program (1995-2000); has edited or contributed to a number of published works, and currently completing a Doctorate on the Political Economy of multiculturalism. Patrick has worked as (qualified) freelance journalist and editor (academic and community); English as a second language teacher; and trade union activist.
