Dr Ogunsakin was trained as a physician in Nigeria. He worked as a faculty (Clinical Instructor/Tutor of Pathology) at St George's University, School of Medicine, Grenada (2009-2011). In summer 2012, he was a recipient of the coveted IMPACT Scholar Award sponsored by the South Central Public Health Partnership and University of Alabama, USA, and worked as an Intern at the Louisiana Office of Public Health, Region 3, Thibodaux. He obtained his Masters of Public Health (MPH) degree in 2012 focusing on Environmental Health Policy and Disaster Management from Tulane University, School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, New Orleans. In the fall 2012, he was awarded a Doctoral Fellowship by the Center for Gulf Coast Environmental Health Research, Leadership and Strategic Initiatives, Tulane University. Dr. Ogunsakin is currently a PhD candidate rounding up his dissertation at the department of Global Environmental Health Sciences in the Environmental Health Policy and Epidemiology track. He is a prolific writer and has published several papers in reputable journals. At the 2013 Tulane University Health Sciences Research Days, his abstract and poster presentation won the prestigious Award for Research in Sustainable and Healthy Communities, sponsored by the Tulane-Xavier Center for Bio-environmental Research.
