As a Research Fellow with the Southgate Institute for Health, Society and Equity at Flinders University in Australia, Michael has a focus on research and evaluation in public and community health that is grounded in a broader social, economic and environmental context. He holds MA with a focus on social complexity as it applies to health, ecology, and organisations and has completed a Doctor of Public Health. His area of interest is in ecological approaches to health and environment in urban settings that explore a range of issues, (for example, politics and citizenship, social determinants of health and equity), and how they might contribute to a just sustainability – one that incorporates social (and environmental) justice (and sustainability).
