My career started as a child interested in the world around her especially nature. While in my undergraduate work at Oklahoma State University (B.S. Science Education 1990). I recieved my Master's Degree from the University of Texas at Dallas in 1995. I moved to the State of California in 2000. I started teaching for the Sweetwater Union High School District. I quickly excelled and was names San Diego Science Educator of the Year in 2003. I also received National Board Certification in Early adolescence science in 2003. I was elected Teacher of the Year for my school district in 2005. My teachings included 7th grade to 12th grade science, biology, physical science and marine Biology.As of 2006 I am now the Academic Support Team Science Resource person. I work with around 100 teachers helping them model effective instructional practices and work with the administration to create Professional Learning Councils. I was also appointed to the California State Board of Education..Science Frameworks in 2009. I also serve on the board of directors for the San Diego Science Alliance and Expanding YOur Horizons. I am also the current Co-Chair for the South Bay Cal-PASS Science Council.
