Marijke Taks (PhD) is full professor in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Windsor (Ontario, Canada) and adjunct professor in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Leuven (Belgium). She teaches courses in sport marketing, socio-economic aspects of sports, and global issues in sport management. She has supervised over 100 student research projects, both at the undergraduate and graduate level. Her research focusses on socio-economic aspects of sport, with particular emphasis on impacts, strategic outcomes and leveraging of sport events. Consumer behaviour of various sport-oriented groups also sparks her research interests. Over the course of her career, she has obtained multiple grants that support her research, including major grants from the Flemish Sports Administration and the Socials Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Dr. Taks has published her work in leading journals in the field of sport management and related fields. She is past editor of the European Sport Management Quarterly, and is currently an editorial board member and guest reviewer for several journals in the field of sport management and related areas.
