I have quite a versatile background within the humanistic sciences, representing an array of various disciplines. My fascination with the humanities started quite early on with choosing the linguistic path in high school, because I preferred the assumption, that reflection and interpretation could always provide more than just one single answer to a question. In retrospect I think that the meaning-making aspect was the reason why I chose to proceed with science of religion. From the mandatory philosophy of science lectures within that discipline I did however find my "true calling". My research interest was more related to scientific than to religious belief. In addition I became deeply curious as to how humanistic theory was conveyed, portrayed and how it related to humanistic practice. The cultural and communicative scopes within Library and Information science clearly appealed to me and thus influenced my master thesis. While taking the master's in Library and Information Science I was introduced to Digital Humanities as a field of study. This allowed me to address issues regarding the state and future of the humanities brought about by digitization, which is also the main focus of my PhD project as well as of the current paper proposal.
