Marija Krtolica is a first year MA student at the Department of Performance Arts at Tisch School of the Arts (NYU). Marija holds MFA in choreography from UC Davis and BFA in dance from NYU. Marija is a contributor for Orkestra Magazine (Belgrade). Her choreographic works have been presented in alternative venues in NYC, Belgrade, California and Colorado and at festivals in London, Edinburgh, New York and Belgrade. Marija is a recipient of SOROS Foundation Performance grant and Open Society Performance Grant. She is a certified yoga teacher and a Buddhist meditation practitioner. In her movement-based work, intense, personal emotion escapes its own environment and creates the surreal landscape filled with dream-like symbolism and nonlinear, dramatic narrative. Her writings intertwine factual and fictional within historical, cultural and political frames.
