Marc Lafrance is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Concordia University, where he specializes in the critical study of men and masculinity. His research is informed by an intersectional perspective—that is, it explores how sex, gender and sexuality intersect with race, class, age and ability—and is characterized by an interest in how men’s relationships to their bodies and sexualities are changing as ideals of masculinity become more complex and, in many cases, more difficult to achieve. Lafrance has published over 30 refereed journal articles and/or book chapters on the sociology of gender, sexuality, identity and embodiment.
