Maui Hudson is an interdisciplinary researcher with a diverse range of interests across the fields of ethics, new technologies, traditional medicine, Maori economic development and the interface between matauranga Maori and science. He holds a Senior Research Fellow within the Environmental Research Institute in the Faculty of Science at the University of Waikato, where he is the principal investigator of a project exploring the integration of indigenous knowledge and science in freshwater management. He also holds a Senior Research Fellow position within the Maori and Indigenous Governance Centre in the Faculty of Law working on projects relating to indigenous ethics biobanking and genomic research , and Maori economic development. Maui has been a member of a number of ethics and advisory committees and was a co-author of Te Ara Tika: Guidelines on Māori Research Ethics - A framework for researchers and ethics committee members.
