Lubomir Stanchev is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science at Indiana University - Purdue University Fort Wayne. He received his Ph.D. from University of Waterloo in Canada in 2005. His research interests include query processing in embedded control environment, materialized view maintenance in distributed settings, semantic query optimization, and software engineering, where he has numerous research publications. During the past three years he has taught a total of nine different courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. His teaching style includes diverse techniques, such as active learning and lecture style presentation with student participation. He believes that motivating students is the key to successful teaching, where his teaching success is documented by student evaluations that are among the highest in department and numerous unsolicited praising letters from students.
