Dr. Lori Navarrete is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at Nevada State College in Henderson, Nevada, U.S.A. She taught at Kansas State University from 1993-2002 and at the University of Las Vegas-Nevada for four years prior to starting her position at Nevada State College in 2006. Her areas of expertise in teacher preparation include mild-moderate disabilities, teaching English as a second language, assessment, and multilingual and multicultural education. Her international interests have taken her to Mexico to examine special education teacher preparation programs and to Uganda and Hong Kong to explore gender issues in teaching and English language methodologies in education, respectively. She has several years of experience working in a team teaching role with college of education peers and public school teachers in an exemplary professional development school model in the Midwest. Her current focus is to develop curricula and programs in a new 4-year college to meet the diverse needs of a largely urban and diverse school district in southern Nevada.
