A candidate of the Fulbright Scholar Specialist Program, Scherch's inquiries have led around the world -- into Tibetan refugee settlements in India, into bamboo forests of China, into slum communities in Bangladesh, and myriad places & projects in between. His life reflects themes of education, social change, business / economic innovation, and sustainable communities. He presently directs Pacific Bamboo Resources, an NGO involving international collaborators and focusing on bamboo innovations that advance carbon ethics and climate recovery, ecological restoration and improved quality of livelihood.
