Joe Smith is Senior Lecturer in Environment at the Open University. He is the initiator and director of the Interdependence day project (www.interdependenceday.co.uk). He has written books on the green movement (2006), on climate change (with Stephen Peake, 2003), and on the media and global environmental issues (2000). His latest book (with Andrew Simms, nef) is, ‘Do Good Lives have to Cost the Earth?’ (2008). He has run the Cambridge Media and Environment Programme since 1996 and has also acted as a consultant on a number of BBC projects.
