She is the former Director of the Queensland Centre of the Adult Literacy and Numeracy Australian Research Consortium (ALNARC). Current research projects include issues surrounding 'at risk' young people and learning, and the initial assessment of adult offenders on remand and on entering correctional centres. Other research interests include adult and workplace literacy, the history of adult literacy, social and e-literacies, flexible delivery and academic literacies.
