James Pushnik is the Director of the Institute of Sustainable Development and the Rawlins Endowed Professor of Environmental Literacy Emeritus at California State University Chico. As the Director of the Institute, he provides leadership toward a more sustainable future through the development of campus and private partnership’s focused on innovation, communication, education and conservation. His function as the Rawlins Professor was to assist with the infusion of the principle of sustainability and resilience into the curriculum and assure that all students at CSU Chico, regardless of area of study gain an appreciation of sustainability. In 2005, he served as a Fulbright Fellow Senior Specialist in Sustainable Development to the Russian Far East. In 2012 and 2013, he served on the California Department of Food and Agriculture Climate Change Consortium and he served as the coordinator of the General Education Pathway in Sustainability Studies at CSU Chico.
