I teach Information Systems courses including programming, network design, and e-business. I have previously served as the Assistant State Director for the Tennessee Small Business Development Center. My research focuses on the use of information and communication technology (ICT) for economic development, and I have published several peer-reviewed articles related to that work. I have developed and implemented a survey instrument that seeks to ascertain the attitude and perceptions of leaders in the ICT industry in regards to the climate for economic growth within a region. My data collection efforts include 6 rounds that span a time frame of 5 years. These studies cover 3 regions with two successive studies in each region. My intent is to correlate changes in attitudes and perceptions of industry leaders with changes in employment levels within the ICT industry. Employment would be serving as a surrogate for overall economic health and the level of economic activity within the ICT industry within the study region.
