  Dr. CHENG Nga Yee Irene (BA, PGCE, MEd, PhD HKU) has substantial experience in conducting research and teaching projects. Her teaching and research interests cover the development of interdisciplinary curricula, pedagogical content knowledge and professional teacher training. She was the co-investigator in a two-year research project on the planning and implementation of the New Senior Secondary Curriculum (2008-2010), and the NSS Liberal Studies Implementation Study of the Education Bureau Hong Kong (2011-12). She is also the principal investigator in a number of research projects on environmental education and teaching. Currently, she is developing teaching resources on primary General Studies and secondary Liberal Studies for use in teacher education programmes, and subsequently for transfer to school teaching. She is the external examiner of the General Studies and education courses of the Open University of Hong Kong and also the co-author of a ‘textbook’ written for the General Studies teacher education programme.
