Ibrahim Abdelhady, Ph.D.
Ph.D. Candidate, Architecture and Design Research
Ibrahim Abdelhady is an Assistant Professor at the American University in Cairo. He has taught various levels of undergraduate students’ courses in computer applications and architectural design. His research is an inquiry into the impact of digital information on the architecture and construction industry. After receiving his first PhD for generative form modeling using computer, he is now a candidate for a second Ph.D. studying the adaption of Building Information Modeling (BIM) by architectural firms in the USA.
By focusing on the digital interactions and exploring new architectural paradigms, Ibrahim won several national and international competitions such as Far Eastern International Digital Architectural Design Award (FEIDAD), Celebration of the Cites, and the Smart Village. He was also one of three architects represented Egypt in the 9th Biennale of Architecture, held in Venice, 2004.
Ibrahim currently is the principle of H2O architectural network, a virtual dynamic environment where different architects from all over the world practice architecture, urbanism, and cultural analysis. His architecture insists on intelligent forms while inventing new possibilities for content and everyday use; it is a concept of futurism through a persistent investigation of the symbiotic potentials amid nature and technology.
