Hofit Itzhak Ben Shalom is a doctoral candidate and in charge of supervising and documenting the planning and construction process of the new green home for Porter School of Environmental Studies. Hofit consults and works directly with planners, architects and contractors of the EcoBuilding project.
In the past Hofit worked at E.S.D Environmental Development and Sustainability, Ltd. as a climate consultant and green construction specialist, where she consulted on green construction projects through Israel and provided on-site guidance to construction crews, consulted architecture firms on climate-correct planning and worked directly with planners, architects, contractors, etc.
Hofit's research in the field of environmental science and global warming examines climate change in several different climatic zones in Israel. She is analyzing the past and future trends of climatic parameters, focusing on the effect of urban development on the heat stress of five major cities.
Hofit’s Master’s thesis at Ben-Gurion University focused on urban warming and its effect on human comfort in the desert city of Beer Sheva, Israel.
