Helen Kress is interested in K-12 school reform that genuinely includes students’ insights about social inequalities around race, ethnicity, social class, gender, and other major divides in American life. Her scholarship and teaching focus on transformative multiculturalisms, critical whiteness studies, socio-cultural analyses of philosophies of education, and qualitative research methods. She graduated from the University at Buffalo with degrees in Communication and Social Foundations of Education. Math and science education are areas which she is the most interested in expanding access to in public education.
